How can you pursue a course in Animation?

Can we ever get bored of all the Kungfu Panda movies that we watch? The astonishing world of Narnia never fails to fascinate us. The miracles that we see on the screens are all because of animation. Animation industry creates magic!

Even when the World is facing a major global crisis, the animation industry is growing rapidly. In India, this industry has gained remarkable visibility in the last decade. It is expanding and the good news is that more and more students are opting for animation courses such as 2- D and 3-D. Renowned companies like Disney are also outsourcing their work to India, which has further given fuel to vacancies in the Animation industry.

One notable point is that people in India often confuse animation with making cartoons. The two fields are miles apart from each other; Cartooning focuses mainly on sketching caricatures of characters in a humoristic way, whereas animation infuses life into these sketched characters. Various computer-based techniques are used in animation that gives the characters life-like appearance!

How to pursue you passion for animation?

• If you are keen on pursuing a career in animation, it is necessary that you must get enrolled in a degree course at a college that can offer you quality information on the subject. The School of Design of Poornima University offers various animation courses in Jaipur. The duration of animation courses usually depends on the course that one takes up. BFA (Bachelors in Fine Arts) is a three-year course whereas the duration of the diploma course in animation varies from 6 months to 18 months. It is important to score at least 45% marks in 10+2 for enrolling yourself in an animation course.

• The basic quality that you must possess for succeeding in animation is sketching and an interest in computers. If you pursue BFA, it can give you a good push and your chances of making it big in the animation industry get bright. Even if you are pursuing any other mainstream course, animation is a subject that you can take up in the hobby classes wherein they offer you diplomas in the field.
